This 2025-2026 school year Celina High School has welcomed Dr. Delissa
Lorenz, a new teacher who is passionate about empowering every student
to succeed! Lorenz has a deep commitment to the Advanced Via Individual
Determination (AVID) program as a believer in potential, and she hopes to
continue to streamline the program.
The AVID elective is a course that teaches students strategies to be
successful in advanced courses; “Next year’s goal is to continue to promote
the program and work alongside students enrolled in AP, Honors, or Dual
credit courses to help them create a method of organization and expand on
critical thinking and writing skills to help them be well prepared for college
and a career of their choice,” Lorenz said.
Lorenz has advanced degrees in social work administration, as well
as working with nonprofit organizations and in higher education prior to
being a K-12 educator. As a mom of three, Lorenz brings a deep
understanding of child development and a passionate commitment to her
students. “My favorite thing about this year, so far, has been getting to
know the students and building positive relationships with them. I love
hearing about what motivates them, hearing about their goals and future
aspirations.”
She has already made a significant impact on the school with her
energy, enthusiasm, and genuine care for her students. Adelynne
Wiseman, a junior at Celina High School and AVID student, has really
enjoyed being a part of the class. “I love how she is willing to help
everyone, and that we dive deeper into career paths”, Wiseman said.
Celina High School is happy to welcome Dr. Lorenz into the district,
and will continue to support her on her journey with the growing AVID
program!
